Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM)
USM is Malaysia’s top comprehensive research university. In September 2008, USM was listed as the only APEX university by the Malaysian Ministry of Education. The goal of APEX (Towards Excellence Program) is to promote USM to become a world-class university.
USM was established in 1969. It has three campuses, a main campus, an engineering campus, and a medical campus.
There are more than 30,000 undergraduate and graduate students, it covers an area of 15,000 acres and provides master and doctorate programs in more than 500 professional fields. In 2008, USM also become the first university to be selected by Malaysian government to participate in Accelerated Programme for Excellence (APEX). In the 2021 QS World University Rankings, USM was ranked 142 in the world [37th in Asia].
